Westies 1, 3 at Vicky Parkrun 5
Freezing cold rain greeted the 131 runners huddled by the ornate side entrance to Victoria Park.
Michael Sweeney took off like a rocket at the start, leaving the rest of us floundering in his wake. I settled into 2nd place briefly, before Stephen Mulrine eased past as we reached the duck pond for the first time.
The route is 3 laps of the park, so I was interested to see whether Stephen would close down Michael, or whether I could reel them in at all. I plugged away as best I could, but made no ground on them, so Michael was 1st in 17:08, Stephen 2nd in 17:18, and I finished 3rd in 17:40.
I felt numb with cold afterwards, and went back to bed for most of the day.
