Anniversary Waltz,2016, Stair,Cumbria.

“There’s a lady whose sure all that….

Oh,come on, it does start at Stair – to – not sure it was going there….

Well in old money they put it at 11.5mls. 3,600ft.  That would be a great run out, or was it? Steven & I had booked for the privilege back in January and really were counting down the weeks. I shall let him tell his story, but he kindly gave his place to a certain Mr. Neighbour,Gary to you & I.(Yes, former T.W. Harrier).

“There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be……

Yes, starts at Stair, Little Town, Newlands Valley, High Crags, Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy, Maiden Moor, Catbells, back to Stair. Instead of our usual Easter break we made the trip for this week-end and stayed at Langdale Hostel, a great place run by Miranda and her crew that do the Pub Quiz of a Sunday night in The Britannia Inn,Elterwater – excellent meals and even better beer. Clearly, with Gary & I and the crew we had to win on Sunday night. What was Sam Torrance’s quote on the golfer putting:  “Ah, that putt was looking so good before he hit it”. Did’nt quite do it.  “Ooh it makes me wonder”

“There’s a feeling I get when I look to the…….

Although we did have a short hail-storm from High Spy to Maiden Moor. Still a very chilly air about the hills and at the end everyone fully clad.

“And it’s whispered that soon, if we all……

Have been looking every day for the results, but they must be having, shall we say a relaxed attitude to them, so don’t have exact times. Would certainly recommend this one to you, must have been 350 to 400  racing.

“If there’s a bustle in your…..

Did I ever mention the time in The Cameron Highlands…..

“And it makes me wonder……

Another race with Free Beer at the end, small meal of mince and veg., or pure veg. option.

“Your head is humming and it won’t……

Coming up to Catbells  – give this some attention – on the crags when seriously flagging. It was fine. The camber hillside after though was cramping up.

“And as we wind on down the……

……the Stair, start field, if you can say that?

“The tune will come to you at last   When all are one and one is all…

To be a rock and not to roll”

…….And the latest shocking  news item just in……To make a Hill Race easier, tut, tut,

“And she’s buying a stairway to Heaven”.
