Scottish Short Course XC Champs 2015
A bracing introduction to the XC-season last Saturday. Two lung-busting, strength-sapping, full-on laps of the big field at Bellahouston Park. It’s the Scottish Championships so all the fast guys and gals of road & middle-distance are here; a fair smattering of national champions, GB team members and Commonwealth athletes about the place.
It starts off with a mad dash of flailing arms and desperate speed to get in to a position. Then it’s being blinded by the muddy water as everyone crashes through the first massive puddle of the day. Settle down to a what feels like an outrageous pace and just hold on for dear life. The first lap is over before you know it, the 2nd lap feels like it goes on forever, the final sprint is desperate and then it’s all over.
A brilliant race, one of my favourites and two minute improvement from the last time I did it.
