Saugh Hill Race

Results I was busy on Saturday and was jealous of the Westies double dunter action that had taken place at Ben Ledi followed by Gargunnock. So to get my weekend fix of racing I decided to make a day of it at the lovely sunkist South Ayrshire seaside town of Girvan. Don had also made

Taynuilt and Lochearnhead Highland Games

Sorry for the delay, have been waylaid running around hills… At about half five last Saturday night, Owen and myself were on our way home from Lochearnhead, discussing, amongst other things, who should write up the race report after quite an eventful day.  Owen came up with a bright idea that we should toss a

Cow Hill Race

This was the last race of Lochaber’s ‘Triple Hirple’.  For you that don’t know including myself until I looked it up there, ‘Hirple’ is Scots for limp gait or to cramp up, all makes playful sense now. All of the Westies that ran with me at the Half Ben Nevis race had deserted Fort William

Ben Lomond Hill Race 2013

Results Was an early start on Saturday to pick up Andy McCall of Glenpark and to grab the Minibus from the hire company. After van duties had ceased about 12:30 I ambled in to registration to see who was about.  It wasn’t my intention to run but after gentle persuasion from John and Christine I

Callander Crags (Winter)

4 of us made it up in the car to Callander for the Crags race.  Claire, Niall, Duncan and myself.  Claire was providing the moral support and demanding a top 8 finish from Niall! There was a huge turn out for the race, easily over 100 which even ended up delaying the start by 15

Ecos Parkrun #35, 29th Dec 2012

Results While I was home for the holiday season, I made it along to my local Parkrun.  Pretty impressed that in a town of not much more than 30,000 that a parkrun exists.   It was a friendly affair with a few old gaelic football club teammates running, one time keeping, couple old school friends

Caerketton Downhill Race

Results Three Westies headed east for this one, Pat, Brian and myself. For those wondering, runners set off in 15 second intervals, starting at 19:00 on the button. The course differs from the Caerketton Hill Race, you keep right at the second cairn and follow the fence line down the steep bit. The finish is

Menstrie Hill Race

Results As Westie representation goes, the race at Menstrie was a family day out for the Evans’s with Ros, Neah, Donald and Malcolm all making it to the start line, and to make up the numbers Brian Brennan and myself turned up. The race was a one-off route up the Ochils as trials for the

Oban Games Hill Race

Results Last Thursday I went up to take part in the Oban games hill race. The weather was great and there was a big crowd at what looks like a well established highland games. At the start line I noticed the club colours of Shettleston on one young buck and a few other lean &

50 mile Road Race (Cycling)

Last Saturday I took part in the my first cycling road race, which ended up being a bit of an non event for me. It was a 3 lap circuit of 17 miles along the old Ayr road (A77) and some other B roads in the area. Half way through the first lap everything was
