Tour of the Borders

I’d have liked to have done the Westies duathlon this year but had already signed up for the Tour of the Borders Sportive. It was the first time I’d been out on my bike since my cycling in the Pyrenees nearly 2 months ago so was a little apprehensive as to how I’d cope.

I ended up having a great ride. I did it with some Edinburgh friends and we really enjoyed the rural route being on closed roads. Although the roads would have been quite anyway, being closed allowed you to work much more effectively in groups and crank out the miles. I’m pleased to report that my hill climbing legs are still effective. And perhaps most pleasingly, the weather was near perfect with the forecast rain only coming on as we enjoyed our BBQ burgers afterwards. Great day (or morning) out.
