Most will know of this utter madness,so let’s not write a report. Ohhhhh, well if you really insist.

For a change let’s give some specific results:

1. Tom Owens 1.09

7. Scott Mitchell 1.21

12. 1st Woman Anna Frost 1.22

54. 1st.V50 Jim Galbraith 1.30

60. Hamilton Semple 1.36

83. Graeme Reid 1.39

223. Ian Struthers 2.05

259. Andy Freer 2.19

334 Entered, 3 DNF’s and 49 decided that it was infinately better to stay in bed and Did Not Start.

So,as far as we were aware it was the trio of "olds"who decided that, yes they would get out of bed for the TURBO X (if indeed they got any sleep after Dave&Muffy’s Do). But just "hang on a wee minute there", the eagle-eyed,not to say mildly observant will note that Scott had a stunning race to finish in seventh place. Well done Scott. In fact he was so fast that we completely missed seeing him at the Prize-giving. As indeed Graeme – did not wait for the wildly exciting prizes.

Meeting at the appointed time of 8.20 sharp Ian & I were at the East car park and strolling up to take possession of the CHIP and really were far too early as we chatted away and in due course were joined by Andy. Better go for a SLIGHT warm up then,I suppose, well it was the morning after. Then, as time goes, it was suddenly time for the off. Quick chat with Graeme and Jim Galbraith(Giffnock North) on the start line. After a couple of miles it was a good Westies shout from Ana & Johannes & possibly Beatrice, if the hearing was that acute. Then on the only long flattish stretch up to the Carbeth Huts, as if on a Sunday morning run before breakfast, Jim catches me and we chat away forever – o.k. until i submit and allow him to go ahead. Turns out, yes, that was a bad move,if had kept with him that was the V50. It was the last mile and a half that tightened up to slow up. Really it was the sheer lack of music, after the night before,no actually we did’nt get "The eye of the tiger" this time with the smoke billowing round you (well did’nt miss that). Kept thinking when’s that music going to start blasting out. Ye didnae get your Rocky theme. You just can’t trust them can you? What did you get? A technical T as usual, but in the most disgustingly poor colour(pale green) – that will need to go back. Good support again at the Viewing Gallery.as they call it, and good shout from Sally & Bailey on Dumbrock moor when you think you are fairly close to home……………Oh dear oh dear oh dear how wrong can you be with the guy in front battering hell out of his calf muscles and swearing away about his cramp. This year they took you to 10 metres from the finish, then off again for another 3/4 of a mile. Oh yes, this and more of a Sunday morning. The tea and bacon& egg roll was marvellous.

As Ian was taking his ablutions in the pond – families passing by – "Daddy why is that man washing in the pond", a fellow westie, don’t know who? was heard to say "he can’t afford his own bath".

Great day out at Mugdock again.Get the music back.
