Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon

Drew Turnbull confirmed his position as Westies Winter League Winner on Sunday with a relaxed run at the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon in front of a horde of adulating fans. Both of us cheered Drew enthusiastically as he waved triumphantly at the 10 mile point, well on his way to completing every event in his well-deserved league victory.

In the Women’s race, Muffy stamped her authority as the sole Westies woman. Without Pat or Liz breathing down her neck, Muffy looked relaxed as she cruised to 6th place overall in the race, recouping her entry fee in prize money.

Archie was first Westie home, stamping his authority on the race early. Blair started off at Archie’s shoulder and kept with him at the early part of the race. However, for the second week in a row, Archie’s blistering pace was too much as Blair moved back through the field. Blair’s misery was compunded at the 10-mile mark as he was overtaken by Tony, looking steady in his first long road race for two years.

So, congratulations to Drew and Muffy. Prizes to be awarded later at the club dinner. Well done to Archie. After missing the first half of the season entirely through injury, he has bounced back and finished in 3rd place in the league, narrowly missing out on second place only one point behind Don.
