Ribbon of Gold

I once stood on a hilltop
I felt pain and joy in equal measures
As the pain of my speedy ascent receded and with the sun low in the sky I looked downwards and the Forth threaded through Stirling towards Edinburgh and could only be described as a silent liquid ribbon of gold
My heart rate slowed and I felt at peace. Happy.
The sun rose higher and the moment was gone.
I was alone and felt privileged to have witnessed this beauty.
