Milland Valley Trail Race, 3.8.08 14 miles

Archivists and/or aficionados of these pages may recall an attempt at this race in deepest rural West Sussex/Hampshire border 3 years ago. An attempt is about right and this was worse. What’s going on you may cry?

Noted for it’s bright yellow sign warning participants of…………………..

DANGER STEEP SLOPE AHEAD

Naturally you just had to laugh , at least making up some ground at last.

Ah, but hold on, that was the situation 3 years ago.

This year they reversed the course and slight alterations included.

So,Semple simply stunning steaming sloping sliding slithering supreme apparently on the downs (it is very hilly) on the ups?

Well, let’s just say, “could do better” Pal. Economical with the truth

again there that’s for sure.

Yes, o.k. it was hot, not too bad, but muggy certainly.

Enjoyed some of it,about half -way thro’ perhaps and the descents

-only time I was passing anyone. Then later it became a real struggle, last 2 miles a killer.

Oh, that’s it, that’s why it was so tough-I had to explain to all those runners what the W stood for? Aye right then.

Another great run, with not that much training,by Gary N.

Thanks again to Liss Runners for a very well organised race and to the local Cricket Club for use of the Pavilion. Just one thing-ever thought of complaining about your water supply? It was hardly even a dribble of water from the shower head of cold water. I shouted out this is the worst shower I’ve ever had, with a quick rejoiner from the guy next to me ” this is the best shower I/ve had”.

Well they were mixed showers. I had to agree with him. The whole place was in uproar by then.

Thanks to Marj and Gary for their hospitality. A great week-end.
