isle of mull half marathon

DavidR, Bill and I headed off to the Isle of Mull for the half marathon. It was a lovely route along the coast road and although generally flat with great views of the hills of Morvern peninsula and the seals bobbing in the Sound of Mull, near the end even the slightest incline felt like we’d been diverted up Ben More and the views were a getting a bit blurry! DavidR was out of sight from the start and finished 4th overall in 1hr21mins, incredibly fast for “just a Sunday run”. Bill also flew off at the start and was speck on the horizon for 10 miles. However, the magic muscle weakening powders I’d put in his Powerade then started taking effect and, with a quick blast from the wee rockets in my trainers, I managed to edge past him. We finished in 1hr34mins and 1hr37mins respectively and Bill immediately began plotting his revenge…. A great weekend away, maybe this road running isn’t so bad!
