Grandtully

Grandtully is a nice wee evening race always held on Easter Sunday and is somewhere between a hill and a trail race…..just enough climb to edge in as a hill race. Just over 20 runners turned up for the race although several of them had already completed 4 races that weekend. Myself and Owen were the Westies contingent and as the race started over the bridge over the Tay Owen and Gary Fraser of Ochils were leading the charge up the road and through the golf course……by the return journey Owen was out front with Alan Smith of Deeside with Adrian Davis of Carnethy and Gary not far behind…..I managed to beat Davie D to the top but declined to contest the descent with him…..managed to  come in about 10 seconds behind him and just ahead of Herbie McLean from Killin…..Owen had lost out on the downhill charge ATP come in a still creditable 4th. Organiser Stuart Simpson had been too unfit to run but his prize giving was as usual something else with everybody who waited getting something…..eventual winner Gary got to wear the devil hat while 2nd place Alan Smith got some duct tape etc etc….1st lady was Julia Connors
