Glen Almond

Ian & I off for another excellent trail. "Make it short for …." 23.5.09

One car at Ardtalnaig (south Loch Tay) and another at start of The Sma Glen. A mere 15 miles this time, hhhmmm. Our weather was overcast to getting worse, if that was possible. But so what – if that’s what we were dealt.

So, fifteen minutes into the run and Semple is up to his devilish, dastardly, devious, tricks- yes he’s trying to hitch a ride in the Farmer’s 4 wheel drive. But his number was up, scuppered by Struthers rounding the bend and catching him red-handed. At least that’s the version he will give. The other version is that it would have been rude not to stop and chat to "the lad", no one around for miles you can’t just run past, (have to put the world to rights for 15 minutes).

Bit difficult getting going today, Struthers showing the way forward, mile after mile.Major track all the way on this route. What about a break? Eh, not in the Struthers vocabulary, apparently. Seems to think he won’t start again. Fact is he could go on all day,and the next day.

Steady rain for most of the day,and quite chilly as we went on. The finishing descent down a tarmac road comes surprisingly quickly, and we both had to dodge a Post Van that seemed to launch at us round a corner- we could just see the headlines two Westerlands runners taken out by a Postie 200 metres from their car.

So back to one car, get Ian’s car then off to Crieff Hydro for coffee and cake.

Excellent finish to another great outing.
