Cyclists vs Harriers 2019

The Cyclist Vs Harriers Cross Country Race is held in Irvine, famous for being my birthplace and not much else. Due to the recent rain, as previously mentioned in Toms Trossachs report, it was deemed to be “a year for the runners”. I think this has been said every year I have run.
After too long spent posing at the start for photos in the cold we were off, charging across the playing field, over the hurdles and onto the moors. I went out hard and ran like a girl possessed for 4.5 miles to take first female and beating last years’ time by over 3 minutes. Despite my normal struggles with navigation I managed to stay on course, unlike Niall and James who found the technical nature of the route a challenge and ended up taking a detour and losing valuable seconds. There was a good turn out of Westies with everyone running well and crossed the line looking suitably pale and winded.
Sadly, it wasn’t a day for the runners and a bike won by miles.
With the prologue over, it was time to settle into the main part of the event. Tea, exceptional home baking and the non-sensical prize giving. Tom won this competition, taking home a brilliant cheese selection, while Will performed poorly claiming a bottle of Blossom Hill for his efforts.
