Cowal Games Hill Race

5 Westies (although Kenny Taylor was (controversially) wearing Dunnon Hill Runners attire) took part in the Cowal Games Hill Race in Dunoon on Saturday.

The start of the race saw us piped up the main street in Dunoon to acclaim from the crowds – it was pretty cool.

The race was a short affair, about 3 miles, and was on forestry tracks and some paths, and we had the sun shining down on us for most of it. Stanley run out in front, as we left the town and on to a forestry track. This siddled us along the hill, and on to some narrower paths, with one short steeper section. The views from the top we reached were great over Dunoon and down to the Games stadium. We ran down and finished on the stadium track – Stanley was 1st to finish in about 21 minutes, I came in 3rd (22 min 22 sec) and Kenny was in the top 10, followed by Brian Brennan and Peter. There was a good atmoshere at the Games.
