West District CC Relay Drumpellier Park

Drizzle, Glaur, Mist, Insect Bites & Dog Poo, I love the cross country season, why wouldn’t you. 11 westies making up two male teams and one ladies team ran yesterday on a, for the most part flat but tough due to the muddy underfoot conditions, course.
I warmed up with my new training partner Oscar, JD2’s horse who really put me through my pre race paces and if it was allowed would have been a real asset during the actual race.

The ladies set off first with Pauline on first leg who ran a strong race as usual with a fast finish on the downhill home straight followed by Helen then Pat.

I ran in team A following on from Chris and JD2 with Niall on the anchor leg. I felt really under pressure to perform but was pleased with my run clocking a 15:58 for the 4K leg, but JD2 ran 14:03 which I think makes him the fastest Westie on the day. Team B ran a cracking race with Don on first leg then his mate Jim, Ciaran and Graeme on anchor who was welcomed over the line with an almighty Westie cheer.

Another successful Westie outing and can’t wait for next week at Helensburgh.
