Round Cumbrae

A short report on a splendid but cool/misty afternoon on Cumbrae. 3 Westies (me, Ian Struthers, and Andy Freer) made the starting line in central Millport last Sunday. The road curves to give the depressing view of the leading runners several hundred yards ahead after half a mile round Millport Bay…but most competitiors were having a fun run on a flat, fast, scenic 10.25 mile course. Andy and Ian and I ran together for the first mile or two (thanks!) but the conditions were so enjoyable that I picked up the pace and finished in the first 100, in a time of 73 m 25s. (The winner’s time was 51 minutes!). The T-shirts for the finishers were really smart, and I’d recommend the race to anyone wanting a nice fast 10 miler.
