Norman’s Law / Grandtully

Norman’s Law – only Westie at this race so presumably everybody else was either at Craig Dunain or resting for the 10 mile race in Strathclyde park. This was my first race since having my hernia op 4 weeks ago so wasn’t expecting too much. Great weather, good crowd of well over a 100 runners with huge number from Fife AC as you’d expect. Really fast outward course on tracks and then up the hill and try to guess the way back / follow somebody who looked like they knew what they were doing. Course dry as a bone and was won in the end by Alasdair Anthony of Ochils in 30:10 …….I was well back in 41:05 though just managed to get in top half which I was happy with as will have to be careful on the downhills for another few weeks.

Grandtully – another great wee race organised by Stewart Simpson and usually full of canoeists with hardly any runners …..not this year as about 20+ hill runners turned up and the race was therefore faster than usual. Stewart Simpson overtook Dan Whitehead of Cosmics on the downhill to reverse the 1/2 of last year and our very own Manny overtook Adrian Davis of Carnethy on the way down to take 3rd. Adrian was 1st vet, 1st lady was Sarah Legge and 1st supervet was Davie Duncan of Ochils. Winning time was just over 26 mins and I was just over 35mins which was nearly 2 mins faster than last year – although 5 weeks ago and I’d have been around 32/33 mins…..ach well nothing that several months of pain and agony won’t fix
