Milland Valley Trail Race – 10k & 21k

A multi-terrain race on the West Sussex / Hampshire border, run on

roads, tracks, paths & lanes round the village of Milland and

features one of the highest hills in the area, Older Hill. Elevation

for the

21k estimated at 450 metres.

A thoroughly enjoyable day out,very well

organised & very well water-stationed and signed. Bright yellow arrows

along the tracks, etc.In fact they also had a bright yellow sign forwarning runners of danger.

DANGER STEEP SLOPE AHEAD.

Quite. Must blame the sign for my time.

Well, laughing so much.

Hot day – there’s another one. Needed the

water to cool down the head.

380 runners

in reputably one of the toughest races in the South-East of England.

Great atmosphere on the day, basking in the

sun, or is that collapsing, after a challenging race, lying out on the cricket

pitch.

Postscript:Wed. 10 Aug. Evening with Mike Gratton at

Tunbridge Wells Harriers. Informal Qu. & Ans. Session in the Bar

after the 7 mile run round hilly Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Many

will remember Mike Gratton as the 1983, I believe, London Marathon

Winner. (time of 2.09. This is his company 2.09. Events.com).

After a bit of joshing about Mike’s age, or

his era, after all he must be all of 50 and more, for goodness sake,we got down

to the serious questions of do you have a rest day or not? Well, apparently not. He said after 48 hours

your body is deconditioning, no, not decomposing as the wit in the crowd,

interjected. By all means have a slower run, but keep running.

Well Mike, all this talk about the pros. & cons. Of the ice

bath. Anything in it? Ice! Exclaimed the wit again. Well, perhaps

you had to be there in the Bar.
