Kielder marathon

This was my first marathon and I wanted it to be a trail. It started at Leaplish waterside park in Kielder/ Northumberland. It rarely leaves the shores of Kielder water following the lakeside way. It has about 800ft of climb involving short sharp switchback bends. A wonderful event that is superbly organised. Markers every mile and water/isotonic stations every 5km. I trained hard for this event as it was my only goal this year following a ruptured ACL and broken ankle. I can honestly say i felt good all the way. Yes I was tired but the legs kept working with no cramps or injury. Big thanks to Grim for appearing at the finish to cheer me in and also to Sharon for giving me the idea and encouragement in the first place. I was very pleased with my time of 3 hours 47 min (25min behind first lady and 18min behind age group winner). I was 147/826 runners. Well done to my sis who was not long behind.
