Hunters Bog Trot

Beatiful sunshine accompanied by an easterly breeze greeted the competitors at the start by St Margaret’s Loch at the foot of the crags. A large convention of Boggies in evidence – this was after all an excuse to celebrate the great man’s half-century – and we were entertained by YP himself at the start, outlining the hazards of the grass tufts and wondrous views, and at the finish, giving out his highly idiosyncratic prizes. Drew and I were the token Westy presence, and we were rewarded(?) with deodorant stick (Drew) and a pair of Billy Minto home-made stud trainers for me (unfortunately they were size 5s).

As for the race itself, Phil Mowbray of Boggies raced away from the field and the cool breeze made for quite fast times. Whisper it gently, but I think I ran a PB for this millennium at least in this nice wee non-hill-race!

Results: 1. Phil Mowbray (HBT) 27.07

1st Wummin (6th finisher!) Tracey Brindley 29.38

49th Grimorr 37.53

69th Drew 44.15

75 finished – one from Teviotdale Harriers with his dog!
