the day kicked off with a great performance by stage one winners (to be confirmed) steffen gorgas and vice captain, scott ‘legend’ mckendrick. this unassuming pair of 30-1 outsiders quietly went about their business like a pair of comic book snipers, picking off the opposition one by one and after 150 yards found themselves at the front of the race, with many seasoned campaigners and international type hill runners chasing-tail; leading the unfancied westerlands b team to glory. all that they had to do was hang on for 4.45 or so miles…
