Cold hands in the Leadhills

Three Westies (Paula Cowan, Graham Kelly and myself) took advantage of the "day after New Year" holiday to enjoy a run in the snowy Leadhills. Conditions were cold and misty, with intermittent periods of sleet, hail and freezing rain — perfect for reminding us why we all love hill running. Despite the limited visibilty, Graham’s excellent navigation skills kept us on track for a three and a half hour circuit encompassing six Donalds. The final couple of kilometers were a perfect demonstration of how heavy, wet snow can combine with wind chill to produce impressively cold hands. However, we were soon restored from being cold to mearly shivering by a late lunch of hot soup at the Welcome Inn services. An excellent day out enjoyed (in retrospect, at least) by all.
