Aonach Mor

I hope you all had a good New Year. Some of us celebrated with holding high our yellow colours at this year’s Anoach Mor hill event. Notably veteran New Years runner Manny, Ana and myself. John D, staying near by, had a great opportunity to attend but failed, so did Blair who turned up only to dip into my soon-to-be published “The Wee Book of Excuses”. However, he only got to chapter 1 “The Basics” as he excused himself with a cold. Charlie and Liz, also spending New Year in closish proximity opted out without reason.

Anyway, more to the point this event ended fairly successfully with Ana, who before the start truly believed that she would come last, coming in third lady closely behind the triumphant Dawn Scott and another lady whose name sadly escapes me. (Results should be out soon.) Manny did well as expected coming in somewhere in the top 15 in well under 27 minutes. I myself, despite the previous night’s excesses managed to slip in just before the 30 minute mark in position 21. There was a good turnout of around 71 runners with all finishing and no notable accidents.

Conditions were near ideal with no or just very little ice and snow. Winning time was around 23 minutes.
