Falkland hill race

Surprised to be the only Westie at this great wee race yesterday…..a classic short, sharp up and down race from Falkland ascending East Lomond…..the race starts and finishes at the fountain in the Main Street and coincided with a local gala which meant Falkland was in even worse traffic chaos than for the Burdens….around 50 runners with most from Lomonds and from Fife with a few HBT, Carnethy and Ochils but only one from the finest club in Scotland….extremely warm at the start of the race but a bit cooler in the woods though that’s when the serious climbing starts…..tried too keep with Colin Wilson of Carnethy but couldn’t anI then concentrated on staying ahead of his wife Joan …..pacing not bad for a change and maintained position throughout, coming in around 29mins about 30 secs faster than last year…..young guy from Fife had a good lead winning in just over 21 mins and First Lady was Joan Wilson just behind me…..great wee race which deserves a bigger Entry
