Two Breweries

1990

Another excellent team performance by Carnethy who managed to get 3rd team prize although they had less points and a greater differntial than Westies. It’s time we changed the vest to black with a yellow ‘W’ thus not confusing poor Frank. On a sadder note this was Frank’s last race as organiser and he will be sadly missed by everyone (especially Carnethy). He is moving to a Brewery in Cockermouth. To find him next year the course will be extended by 90 miles and 13,000 feet. On a pleasant note Bill Sheridan will be taking over therfore ensuring that Westies will always get a prize.

Being a social club the post race entertainment was as usual excellent with the usual free beer which seemed to be distributed on a first finished, fastest drinker basis, ie Riggers made full use of the facility and Tony had none. The oogie (can’t spell ceilidh) was really good and HBT were attending to Pat’s every need. This fraternisation will have to stop!

B.B.Brian was again left without the PB scalp on his belt mainly due to the fact he insisted on throwing up at every opportiunity during the race. Ken recognised his scalp after a close race with PB up Carnethy.
