In the Dark Handicap

04 Mar

Join us for the first club handicap race of the year and the last fixture in the Westies Winter League. Great training and good navigation practice.

The handicap system allows all running abilities to compete together. Runners set off in a staggered manner – slowest runners off first and the fastest off last. If everyone ran to their expected (handicap) time they would all cross the finish line at the same time. In reality though some runners improve on their expected time and others might be a bit slower. The first across the finish line is whoever improves on their predicted time the most.

Park at the Old Kilpatrick Car Park by the playing field and Bowling Club (What3Words///shadows.canoe.pilots). The start will be at the Gasworks - first runner away at 7pm.

The route is a fast and furious dash up and down the Slacks - 3.5 miles and 1000ft.

Each runner must carry waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, a whistle, a head torch, a fully charged mobile phone.

Non-members should contact the committee@westerlandsccc.co.uk before coming to a run.
