Glen Striddle Horsehoe

Please be at the start in good time so the run leader can do introductions and we can organise into groups ready to run at 7pm.

There are different options ranging from the simple up and down to Beinn Dubh (about 6km and 600m of climb) to the full Glen Striddle Horseshoe (11.5km and 700m).

Most runs will last about 90 minutes, 2 hours at most, be around 10km with a few hills to climb depending on the location. We will always try and have at least two groups. One group will have a more social pace which might be ideal if:-

  • It is your first hill run or first night run.
  • You are unsure how your pace will be compared to other runners as you are new to Westies.
  • You are on recovery, back from injury, pre/post-race.
  • You just fancy a more social run with good company.

The other group will be a bit faster and go a bit further, and if there are enough run leaders and supporters there may even be an intermediate group. Whichever group you join no one gets left behind.

Each runner must carry waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, a fully charged mobile phone with the run leader’s number (get it on the night). Depending on the weather, terrain, and duration of the run try to ensure that you have enough food/fluids/spare layers. Between September and March runners should bring a fully charged and working headtorch.

Non-members should contact the committee@westerlandsccc.co.uk before coming to a run.
