LangdaleChristmasPud 10k 2007

Well good readers. It has been a long time since I have graced the pages of this august body, but I feel impelled to regale you with tales of daring do in deepest darkest Engerland.

Lynne, Rani and I fared south in search of adventure this weekend and were to meet a group of 5 brave explores with whom we would charge down the Langdale valley. In the end 5 of them were due a tight slap and feined illnes and I ran with only one companion.

A bright and freezing cold morning saw 500 or so happy brave souls in the New Dungeon Ghyll car park. We tried to keep the cold demons at bay and then sent little children to be sacrifised in the end of the valley 3k of fun running away, before all the adult ran away in the opposite direction!

I set off way to fast, under 6 min for the first mile and pulled back to a better pace. Having only done long steady runs lately I didn’t know what to expect and would have been happy with anything under 43 minutes so was very pleases to get a pb at 41:14 whoo spooky!

Still not breaking the magical 40 min mark but with no speed training a pleasing result. See you after Christmas Charlie.

The awaiting crowd shouted ‘westies’ to the surprise of the locals who took us for heathen and drove us out of town, so we retreated to Brotherswater and stole the local brew, drinking as much as possible in one night so they could not reclaim it. Ha ha!
