Half Ben Nevis Race

A fairly small field, mainly Lochaber runners. A beautiful afternoon, blue sky and a gentle breeze.  Once around the field and out and along the road to Achintee,  everyone quickly finding their pace.  It was good to be running, the legs were feeling strong, they just needed a good stretch.  Soon past the pub and onto the track, the views up Glen Nevis were magnificent. Manage to follow those in front and find the wee short cuts, up through the bracken and back onto the path.  Up onto the old path, seeing the lead runners flying down the grassy bank already.  Half way, around the flag and plodded down the slope, soon a pair of yellow shorts came wheeching by! Back onto the track and enjoyed the descent, missed one short cut but found the next. Achintee again and the road back to the finish. Slower than last year, but the legs were feeling good, a braw wee run!
