Ben Venue

Good turnout of Westies at Ben Venue despite the number running in the McAndrew relays or down south today. At long last my prayers were answered and the race was run in cool conditions, great for running, and fast underfoot other than the really slippy rocks along the ridge. Alan Gilkison had another excellent run to finish top Westie in 1:25:00ish well up the field with Luke Arnott not too far behind. Val Houston was our only lady but did the business finishing first V40. The race was won by Hector Haines in 1:12:00+ just over Finlay Wild’s record and Kenny Richmond was first male V40. John Donnelly was our next finisher after Val in just over 1:44:00 having gubbed me big time once we hit the track on the way back, then myself in just under 1:46:00 followed in order every few minutes by George Douglas, John Hamer, and the bold Hamilton Semple. Great day out and back to the original race route, well organised and with a good spread of food at the finish, only spoiled slightly when George D was publicly accused of eating way over his fair share of the food …..he was so embarrassed that he agreed to leave the country for a few days. Next week Tarmachan…..stay cold please
