Beecraigs Festive Handicap

I ventured over to Beecraigs by Linlithgow on Boxing Day for my annual post crimbo leg stretcher.  This is a cracking event run by Peter West of Lothian Running Club which is always a free-to-enter affair and open to all.  I was feeling brave and opted for two laps of the 7km circuit which finishes with an ascent/descent of Cockleroy hill.  Lovely weather made it an enjoyable day out although fallen trees resulted in some changes to the course which lengthened it slightly and added more ups and downs.  There was a cracking 125 pre-entered runners plus more registered on the day.  A great atmosphere all-round. I finished the 14.5km in 1:10:36 which put me roughly slap-bang in the middle of the 75 or so long course finishers.  The fastest time was an obscene 54 minutes by some Carnethy type who, i’m guessing, didn’t prepare for the race by sinking copious amounts of alcohol and cake the day before Wink.

Well worth the trip out to Lithgae to do this event
