Ayr 5-mile Trail Race

My third year in a row at this low key trail race that starts at Dam Park Stadium and runs along the banks of the River Ayr.

After an afternoon of torrential race, the sun finally came out making for a beautiful sunny evening. Unfortunately not too many runners turned so there was not a great deal of competition on the start line. As normal I set off as fast as possible for the first 400 metres around the running track before breaking out onto the trail. However unlike normal, I kept pressing on and was not challenged for the lead, so it became a time trial between myself and the lead bike. My only target was to see if I could dip under 29 minutes, but just missed this with a time of 29:06. A nice little race, but it could do with a few more runners.
