Aonach Mor – 1st January 2014

A great way to start 2014 off, a wee uphill race Aonach Mor on New Year’s Day. We left Kingussie at 9am, after getting Maisy up at 8am after dragging her to a party & fireworks in Newtonmore on Hogmanay, well she has to get used to these late nights, lots to eating & drinking & no sleep…. No wonder she is grumpy, must take after her Dad……

Anyway it was great to see a few Westies at this race, although I thought there were 7, but on the results only shows 6 looks like someone is down as Lothain RC……. Is this correct?

Conditions were great & good turnout of runners.  As usual I was well down the pack, at one point I was 3^rd last & then I seemed to get my 2^nd wind at the fence & made up lots of places at least 9, very unusual  for me it must have been the soup & chips I was thinking about. I managed to be all of 10 seconds quicker than last year, how consistent am I……..  

Anyway a great day followed by a nice journey down the Gondola & back to the Glen Hotel for a pint or 2.
