Curry Night

Curry nights traditionally take place on the first Wednesday of each month. This year, there is a Curry League with points awarded for attendance!

The next curry night will be on Wednesday 1st September at the New Cafe Punjab, 26 Alexander St, Clydebank, G81 1RZ.

Extravaganzas

Extravaganzas are mass participation club relay events, covering long distance routes in one continuous outing.

The most recent Westies Extravaganza was the Cateran Trail in Perthshire on Saturday 27th March 2010, with club members staying at the Gulabin Lodge at Spittal of Glenshee.

Prior to that, the Skye Extravaganza on 4th April 2009 attempted a North-South traverse of the island from Rudha Hunish to Point of Sleat. The attempt was thwarted by appalling weather, and was abandoned at Torrin by Loch Slapin after about 12 hours.

On 30th August 2008, the club an enjoyable and successful romp along the Rob Roy Way, starting at 5am in Pitlochry, and finishing 12½ hours later at Clober Road car park in Milngavie.

Grudge Matches

Westies have a long history of "Grudge Matches" with HBT, our beer-swilling comrades from the east. The grudge match proposed for Sunday 11th April 2010 was cancelled. Instead there will be grudge match in Autumn 2010.

Loch Ossian Weekend

Loch Ossian Youth Hostel is one of the remotest habitations in the country, accessible only by foot from Corrour railway station. Surrounded by wild remote scenery, the hostel provides an ideal opportunity to escape the rigours of everyday life.

The most recent club trip to Loch Ossian was 7th-8th November 2009.
