Calderglen Handicap route map
Full route description:-
Race starts and finishes at Torrance House. Route goes down tarmac path to river, crosses river on wooden bridge to left hand bank then after about 600m re-crosses river. Take the left hand fork and continue following path climbing steeply above river with Torrance golf course on RHS. Eventually after about 1 km the track drops down to the river and crosses under both the old and the new Strathaven roads. Follow the path undulating and twisting beside the river till the path forks. Take the LH fork and continue on path for about another km. Path turns sharp right up a hill and crosses a road. Pick up track on other side which skirts Langlands Golf course and follow to another road crossing. Pick up track on other side past large wind turbine on LHS. Cross another road and rejoin track on other side which after about 75m brings you back to the fork in the path. Turn left and start heading back towards Calderglen going back under the Strathaven road bridges (Early starters watch for the last runners coming in opposite direction).
When you get to the bottom of the steep descent and the path forks, keep to the LHS of river (ie do not cross river) and follow path as it gently climbs uphill towards Torrance House. When you are getting near Torrance House an arrow will direct you right through a short tree section, across a lawn and back to the finish. Should be about 6 to 7 km in total.
