    John D, We pack an incredible amount of activity into this event. Do you not feel that it is good value for money?

    I'd be interested to know what aspect of the event you feel is contrived. It is after all, meant to be 'sport as entertainment'

    Gary, I meant contrived in a good sort of way, honest, though some of the queues were long. As for the £80 entry fee, I meant that your average hillrunner would find that a lot compared to the cost of most hill races. Yes, you do get quite a bit for your money, especially the nice T-shirt and it's not every day you get to canoe under the Forth bridges, abseil off buildings and impersonate Sean Connery (badly). I would still recommend trying it to Westies.

    Likewise ... I did the last two RR events over in Edinburgh. Great fun and £per hour actually pretty good value for money. The race takes you to bits of Edinburgh that you would never normally get to visit (especially as part of a race). Top tip for the mtn bike descent of the stairs in Cockburn Street ....blow your cheeks out really hard - for some strange reason it seems to help (before you ask ...at least one other person on this thread will understand what I mean).

    If racing isn't your thing then go along to marshall - a great way of taking part without the pain !
