CHRISTMAS DINNER
According to most reports I heard, and my own experience on the night, Fanny Trollope's was another Westies' Social Success. The food was great, the venue just about right and the company, of course, was excellent - well apart from a few dodgy characters such as The Glasgow Psychopath and Lord Lucan who gatecrashed. The local pub The Gazelle was the venue for a few pre-dinner aperitifs before we wandered the few yards along Argyle Street to our bistro. When we got there though, there seemed to have been a double-booking as the tables were laid out for some bunch of hooray-henrys with names like Lord Justice General Donnelly, Baron Bertulis and Baroness Brunton, Lady Liz, The Royal Richens of Kilpatrick, General Gibby, Mademoiselle Myfanmwy and Dashing Dave, Lady Irvine of Mullguy, The Venerable Aunty Pat, Her Highness Helen of Hillhead, Peebles Pete and Exquisite Elsie, Secretary General Riach, Captain Chris, Lady Isabella Coombs (and dodgy fella), Lord Fraser of Irvine, Arnott of Garscube, the Turnbulls of Lyttleton ESQ, Major K.Adams. They had obviously intended bringing along their scummy servants and in-bred cousins too, as it appeared that there was a Blairpud, Jaunty Jason, Graham Bent-Knee, Anne-e-stetic, Gorgas the Great, Alice in Kiwiland, Courteous Courtial, Attending Ana and the Buddha Campbell
However, I soon turfed that lot out and we sat down for a lovely meal and BYOB refreshments. Speeches and prizes followed by ex-Captain Charlie and new Chick CaptainessCatriona with Pat getting a special award for all her efforts as Club Secretary over the last squillion years. Chris collected his summer league trophy and finally, much to his surprise, Steffen won Westie of the Year for, amongst other things, his great improvement over the last year or so, but more importantly for beating Captain Chris in a few races. I hope you all enjoyed the evening.

well this was my first club do. i didnt know most of you before this, and after this ...well! good food, good speeches and generally convivial conversations. Now I just need to wait till I get feeling back in my thighs which turned to concrete 24 hours after running BenLomond and I might think of running again to work of the decent portion sizes we got. Thanks all

Well done John. Many thanks for brilliant organisation and an "interesting" seating plan.
