MEC 5 Peaks 10k trail race - Calgary
Unlike Toronto 2 months back, this race was run under bright blue skies on a very hot, dry and dusty day. This was the first of a series of races organised by Mountain Equipment Co-op across Canada. Despite best efforts I got boxed in on the narrow woodland trails and the leading group managed to gain too much ground before I could really get to work and try close the gap - or was it just way too hot, or am I suffering from delusions here. The race was comfortably won by Salomon sponsored Canadian international Phil Villneuve.

Didn't hang around for the prizes as I had a plane to catch (and I didn't have one).
Ps - Calgary's longest ever wet spell was 19 days in the sixties and they get 300 days of sun per year ... makes you wonder doesn't it ?
