Cornalees

No report from a runner yet so I'll do one from a bystander point of view, but they might be quite similar. WASHOUT!!

After the last four years, the good weather for this race finally cracked and the heavens opened over Greenock. With the wind and rain not letting up all day, our prayers weren't answered when, if anything, the conditions were actually worse come race time. Everyone was soaked before the gun went, including moi who only popped out the car for a couple of minutes to take a photo - I can only guess how bad it was up the hill. Anyway, there was a grand turnout of ten Westies making up about one third of the field and when the swim was over and everyone had wrung themselves out, there was the usual banquet to enjoy back at the club house. A big thanks to Stevie, the rest of the Glenpark crew and the poor hill marshals for another cracking wee race.

In a perverse sort of a way, once you got used to the waves washing over your feet from the reservoir, the sleet and the stop-you-dead-on-your-tracks wind, it was actually quite enjoyable. 33 runners on a wet night with a champions league final as an alternative was a good turnout for this fine wee race. Good run from David in 4th place, even if he was wearing waterproofs, unlike the real men! Thanks again, Glenpark....we might even forgive you for stealing our runner at Goatfell!!

Thanks again Westies for the brilliant turnout.

Managed to get the race just right this year, by getting it to coincide with the start of the Greenock summer.

Sorry about my usual haphazard presentation, After almost forgetting to give out the wummins prizes last year, this time I thought I was prepared, only to lose the time keepers with the results. So had to improvise with a bit of guess work, In the end I got all of the prize winners right except for the team. The BEST team actually got the beer even tho' we weren't actually the quickest.

Impressed that Marc and Charlie refrained from the home made baking (from tescos)but only to see them slip off to the chippy next door.

*As this is a new course congratulations to Muffy who now holds the ladies vets record.

Bought a chippie and then promptly wished he hadn't. Sorry Stevie but the Orangefield chippie chips are easily the worst I've ever had, so much so that I struggled to eat half they bag then gave up. Is it an indication of character or the gutter that Mark had a bag of chips before the race then another one after and totally finished the lot - what a fat SHIT ! I'm glad you noticed that I refrained from all the lovely (tesco) goodies you had on display but grubber Mark had a handful of cakes when he got in my car - mmh, wonder where he stole them from? Anyway, God rewards the upright and guess who miraculously ended up with the team prize beer, even although Westies were only 3rd team. That's right, your one and only fat photographer - cheers guys, I'm away to crack open another bottle of Bud - Hic! :-)

Simply enjoying the rare pleasures of life away from running 80 miles a week and losing my social life.

Enjoying my social life once more and currently on a gorging spree.

The Orangefield has one thing going for it though, nice looking burds as the junior Glenpark indicate these days.Charlie was too shy to admit it though.

Better hold on to yer young talent though in case we steal them at the next hill race Stevie !!
