Vail Pro Race Series Snowshoe Event 2

I had to "work" the day of the North American National Snowshoe champs, so the second and final Pro Series race had to substitute.

There were a few more ringers this time, trying to snag a few of the overall points on offer as this series (like the ski season) comes to an end. I had skied really badly in the final Giant Slalom on Tuesday 1st, so needed a bit of a boost up the leaderboard, too.

The start seemed very familiar, with five of us pulling away from the barflies up the first incline. Unfortunately as the race progressed my position moved further back these five until the finish - where I ended up 5th !

Although I managed a pb, it was much harder than the previous event - think I'm coming down with more flu - it's been a rotten season for it - I've definately lost a lot of aerobic capacity - although I seem to be stronger in the legs.

I think I am second in the overall Pro Series, with just one event left (a mogul comp), next Tuesday. Then it's a lot of training for the National Synchro Ski Champs in Aspen - kind of like Synchro swimming, but at 40mph without nose clips or those inane grins....

..I leave here 25th April - will be back in Blighty 31st May - Hope all is well...
