Nine Standards Fell Race
1st January 2005. 8 miles / 1800ft.
Kirkby Stephen.
Joe Symonds won the race in 55:19, 4 seconds off the 11-yr old record. A fantastic effort given the windy conditions. Last year's winner Phil Davies of Borrowdale held off Keswick's Mark Denham-Smith by one second, for 2nd place.
Andrew "Scoffer" Schofield came in 4th, and his other half Sharon Schofield had a good run for 1st lady.
I went backwards most of the race finishing 23rd in 67:47, nearly 3 minutes slower than last year.
64 runners.
