Well well well what can be said except, never again. What a stupid race. Ok on the way up but somebody tipped Lochaber and made it steeper on the way back down. Despite a poor slurring by Campbell he still managed to trouce moriarty, alias Calder, into oblivion. 7 pints and 5 hours sleep = 2nd Westerlands runner home. I've got no more to say as I'm humble in victory. Well victory over JT IS and JW anyway.

Tolmie blamed his defeat by Calder on a serious fall on the road! Meawhile JW was busy throwing stones at his eyes in order to draw blood and gain sympathy for finishing twenty minutes behind Ian Struthers, whose increase in training to two runs per week is obviously paying dividends.

Mr Wellings was incredibly brave and herioc, he played down his injuries as such that he would have us believe he lost only three gallons of blood and would not accept that this had anything to do with his performance.

In the Inverrorran Hotel afterwards AC confessed that his victory was unequivocably attributed to his ripple shoes, i.e. victory on technical merit, not ability. This is a typical remark by a person of dictatorial tendencies with delusions of grandeur backed up by twisting of the truth to meet the dictates of current policy, in this case the 5 year plan ... in the next 5 years any more of Campbells famous victories will be planned to be denigrated because of his shoes.
