Garscube Old Boy almost Lapped by Drew Shocker

Conditions at Posties Park in Dumbarton were pretty grim on Saturday for the Dunbartonshire's, but that didn't prevent 11 Westies , including 2 debutees, battling against the elements to pick up more valuable league points.

Despite constant rain driving in from the Firth of Clyde, there were excellent turnouts in the junior races. It was therefore always going to be hard for Deborah to repeat her success from the relays, however she still managed an excellent 4th place in the U13's. Similarly, Victoria was 4th in the U15's, whilst Fraser (26th, U11), Jennifer (15th, U11) and Cameron (22nd, U13) all looked as if they were enjoying themselves in the conditions just as much as the Big Boys.

Catriona, running her debut race for Westies, was the sole Westies Wumman and ran strongly in her 4 mile race, to finish 8th overall.

In the nen's race, Chris started off really well, before dropping a couple of places to finish 11th, still a good result in the men's 6 mile event. Good packing from Gibbie, Stuart Gough (another first outing for Westies) and Don, saw them finishing within a couple of places of each other. Gibbie, in particular, used his international experience ffrom last weekend to finish strongly, overhauling Stuart in the latter stages and making Don look almost pedestrian. Drew also managed a good run and came within a short distance of lapping a Garscube(not-quite-so) old boy who was clearly relishing the squalour.

Westies men finished only a few points away from a medal position.
