Dave Let Off Hook As Haddie Fails to Bite

The simmering grudge match which had been building up since last week fizzled out yesterday when Blair failed to turn out for the Uni Road Race. Last week, at Helensburgh, he was confidently predicting that he would anihilate Dave. Allegedly, Dave had retorted at Wednesday night training that Blair was running like a haddie; clearly this has been reported back to Blair, who has been understandably crushed by this withering indictment of his running prowess.

Instead, it looked as if Dave would be the haddie, getting caught out at the start towards the back of the field. After a mile he was over 100 metres behind Gibbie, with Hamilton in between the 2. However,by the 4 mile mark, all 3 were running close together, and Dave finally pulled off the faster finish, ahead of Gibson, with Hamilton finishing behind.

Elsewhere ,Graeme had a good run, and for once he didn't complain about having the cold. Drew completed the race for the 148th year in a row, and Helen, a former League Winner, ran her first race of this Winter Season.

However, biggest disappointmkent was the non-appearance of Blair. When will The Haddie meet his promise of giving Dave a good drubbing?
