Loch Ossian Leader's Log
The annual trip to Loch Ossian was a great success and thanks must go to all who helped make it so - BLAIR MILLEN, STEFFEN GORGAS, DAVE CALDER, IAN STRUTHERS, IAN RIDGEWAY, IAN MURRAY, CHARLIE CAMPBELL, KEITH ADAMS, KEITH FRASER, HAMILTON SEMPLE, RONNIE GALLAGHER, DREW TURNBULL, LIZ HORTON, GILLIAN IRVINE, KATHERINE KIRK, HELEN MACPHERSON, SARAH KLEEMAN, MUFFY CALDER.
There was great food provided for the Saturday feast and a couple of breakfasts too. Others used their diplomatic skills to secure us daytime use of the hostel, while some generally did a power of work cleaning, washing dishes and generally making the whole weekend run smoothly.
Friday night started off at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel with some (expensive but very good) food and a few ales before we all boarded the train, only to almost leave immediately when we realised Ronnie G had decided to join us.
A quiet Friday night followed at the hostel with the main topic of discussion being Saturday's various options and the weather. Saturday turned out to be a very fine day with yours truly, Steffen, Keith x 2, Sarah, Ian, Ronnie having an epic 24 miler out along a very boggy path to scramble up Lancet Edge then take in the Munros of Carn Dearg, Geal Charn, Aonach Beag and Beinn Eibhinn. The views were fantastic and we plodded back to the hostel @5.30 after a great 8 hour day. Liz, Dave and Kaptain Kirk out-epiced us by arriving back just before dark having taken in both Ben Alder and Beinn Bheoil, much to Dave's surprise as Liz told him it was a wee trot round a loch (Loch Ericht !). Others took in Ben Na Lap and Loch Ossian.
Saturday night proved a great success, with togas in abundance, a few nuns, a priest and Drew(?). Plenty of food and bevvy was consumed before Captain Chick spun a few groovy discs for the dancefloor divas. The night was rounded off with the usual epic Music Man rendition led by Dave.
Sunday was a gey dreich day and a few of us soldiered up Leum Uilleim, the "Trainspotting" Corbett, while Steffen and Blair joined the sub one hour Round The Loch Club and Dave inaugurated the Indoor One Hour Running On The Spot Club. Ian S, Hamilton and Ronnie walked out via Strath Ossian to Tulloch Station. We all hoovered up the remains of the food and drink while Sarah was crowned Jenga Queen (I think?).
We, of course, had to finish it all off at Corrour Station with the Westies Triple Crown of the Hokey Kokey, the Grand Old Duke of York and the Sprint Relay.
A truly fantastic weekend.
