BARHILL BASH AND CROY HILL CANTER
A new Westies run and one it seems we will return to. A great mix of canal footpaths, ancient forts, Antonine Wall ruins, forest rides, incredibly muddy farm paths etc. Present at the start were myself, Liz, Ana, Charlie, Pat, Dave, Muffy, Graeme & visitor, Fiona - at the finish, well all of us except Liz, Ana and Graeme who didn't want to get their poor wee feet wet and muddy and took a nice scenic detour back. See you all next week at Croftamie for the Handicap race.

This is one of my favourite old training runs which I used to frequent from Kilsyth. An nice alternative would be to start/finish in Twechar (parking in the wee industrial estate opposite the pub / war memorial) and afterwards get into the pub which is a superb real-ale oasis in an otherwise barren land. It's a beautiful old timber clad gem of a place and the locals are usually good crack - unlike Croy which is a bit like the wild west!!A nice wee alternative to the canal bank from Auchinstarry to Twechar is along the old railway line footpath.Try the route and pub next time - I promise you won't be disappointed.
