Donkey Brae race, Aberdour
The haar had settled over Edinburgh on the morning of the race, but this version of sea-fog is quite cooling. Over the Forth in Fife, the sun was breaking through by the time the race started at 1pm. Much of the "loop" course is along the Fife coastal path, and is scenic and undulating. The usual suspects were out in force: Boggies, Pitreavie, Wee County Harriers, Dundee Road Racers, and me the sole Westie (although Janet did the 2 mile Fun Run - wimmin watch out!).
The 7-mile race was won by Phil Mowbray (not a bad name for a Donkey Bray-er!) in about 38 minutes; I managed just over 53 minutes - not too bad in the heat, though the legs gave out on the Brae (short steep shock at 6.5 miles).
Hope to make it to Mother India for the curry! and to the Croftamie Handicap, to continue my role of also-ran.
