Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon 2004
The LAMM 2004 was set in the hills on the south side of Glen Carron. JD partnered me (Nigel) on my first such event.
Saturday's weather conditions were extremely poor with rain all day, strong winds, very high rivers, cold temperatures and snow around 3000ft. Quite a few teams pulled out on Sat and a number of folk were evacuated with hypothermia. Despite the conditions John and I had a reasonable run finishing seventh in the B class.
Sunday was a better day, but a few bad route choices and a rough spell in the middle left us way off the pace eventually finishing 13th. Westies Liz, Fiona Hutchinson, and John Hutchinson all ran and completed theie respective courses.
The elite was won by P&J Davies, with Jethro Lennox & Tim Lenton second, Adrian Davis & Alec Keith third.
A big thanks to JD for seeing me round my first MM and assisting with difficult travel arrangements.
