Balloch to Clydebank 1/2 Marathon
Take comfort (?) Crispin, it was also pissing down during the Balloch to Clydebank ½ marathon, with a few gusts from time to time!
But that didn't put off our Westies team consisting of Donald and Muffy (running), Christine (dropping out?) and Dave, Ana, Steffen and Hamilton at the 9 mile water station.
The course was, well, long.
Donald stormed away from Muffy in the last mile, despite moaning about his right hamstring since mile 2. Muffy has a matching sore left hamstring - together we'll make a great 3-legged runner. Christine was never seen again after mile 2, maybe she stopped in at home for a cup of tea.
The water babies looked cold and wet - but we appreciated their efforts. After a debacle at the 6 mile water station (I am embarrassed to say that I swore at the kind, but misguided volunteer who dropped my bottle), I aimed straight for Steffen, knowing that German efficiency would not let me down. And it did not, an excellent handover Steffen, thank you.
A great finish to the winter league. Phew, thank goodness that's over!
Times
Donald : 1:38 (any secs?)
Muffy: 1:38 (and 21 secs)
