In the Dark H/cap race

A dozen Westies turned out for this annual event and with six newcomers to the race, things would be interesting. Sure enough, track reps at Scotstoun paid off for Hamilton as he stormed in, taking first position in a great time. Problem was that he went up the hill and stright back down, missing out the loop round Lennoxtown -- oops. On the long road stretch back to Clachan, Val managed to get in front of Elsie and then decided she could do with some extra training by heading off into Haughhead. Elsie, making sure Val had got far enough ahead in the wrong direction, then kindly called her back on track -- true Westies spirit :-)

Overall, another gritty run from Drew saw him take 1st position for the second year in a row, only overhauling new signing Fiona in the last half mile who took the Ladies prize and 2nd place. Jon 'not so' Slowe blitzed round in the quickest time of the night to claim 3rd position, with other placings as below.

Pat supplied an extensive prize list (far too nice compared to Calder's prizes) and it was all rounded off with a meal & drink at the Glazert Hotel. Ta to Isabel, Lilian, Margaret, Big Al and Nige for helping out.
